Autumn Winter 2010/2011 Hair Trends

Ever on the lookout for a brand new look, who do the stars turn to when they want an image revamp?
Why it’s their trusted hairdressers of course.

As the new Autumn winter season approaches its a great time to change your look…….. its as good as a holiday so they say!

Start by doing something small -say goodbye to ballerina buns of spring summer and hello to the super-cool side parting.
Ideal for adding a tomboyish edge to even the most girlish of hairstyles, make your side-part sharp and graphic for a statement look.
Catwalk fashion is very 1920’s masculine, sexy and ladylike so a side parting can mirror this in your style.

In keeping with the womanly silhouette that emerged from the autumn/winter 2010 catwalk, a celebration of the female form, with tweed suits, cinched waists, knee-length skirts hair is full of bounce, gloss and shine with hidden undertones slices enhancing the shape and curves of of long layered haircut. Effortlessly elegant.

Colour in Autumn/Winter should be richer and warmer than summer
Rich raisin chocolate brunettes, blonde’s twinkle with golden tones and Red heads shimmer with metallic copper.

Autumn Winter 2010/2011 season is officially the age of adornment.
Hair accessories are on the rise brooches, hair bands and hats. On the catwalk leather bands were paired with plaited up styles, patent leather added a dominatrix slant to the chic up dos at Lagerfeld that sported the beehive, while at Prada knitted headbands gave a nod to the upcoming knitwear trend.

2010 is very popular for brides and everyone knows I love a good wedding!

What I’m loving this year that all brides are very individual and have their own unique style there isn’t a strong trend for your special day except yourself!

Vintage head pieces are being created from family jewels and a few brides have changed their dress and look for the evening.

I’m am updating this website soon and collecting all the images from 2009/2010 brides to share with you!

Organising my own upcoming wedding was relatively stress free as I am lucky to work with all the best people in the business.

My only concern was how to entertain my little nephews without stressing out their Mum.

A friend recommended The Little Wedding Crechers as the answer.

They are teachers/Montessori teachers and they look after the children and sort out a little party for them so they’re not bored with all the grown up stuff you can also organise babysitters with them too

I would highly recommend the THE LITTLE WEDDING CRECHERS

SCANDALOUS for hair that gets people talking…..

Lately I have been using retail products rather than salon because I want to recommend lovely products that are easily accessible to everyone doing their weekly shop.
So the first product group I tried was James Brown London – No Relative HA HA!

The SCANDALOUS collection is lovely -250mls tubes so lots of product for your buck!
Great packaging -gloss black it looks great in your bathroom and its a thick moisturising cream which is great for hair with lots of colour without over loading it.

The treatment is a real touch of luxury only 5 minutes is needed to get the benefit of soft murmurer butter to leave your hair feeling soft and revitalised.
So Pop down to your local Boots chemist and fill up your basket!

I did a fun shoot yesterday with a brilliant photographer Maciej Pestka to be featured in THE SUN newspaper this weekend or next week.

So cute!

Little doll like looks created by the wonderful  Derrick Carberry http://www.derrickcarberry.com/ to follow the style that Cathy O’Connor – contact catoconnor1@gmail.com  created full looks to be shown on Xpose soon. I created this pre war  era look using traditional techniques of finger waving and kiss curls.

First I took a diamond shape diagonal to the crown and back combed to create height then taking random sections I rolled the hair from the tip to the base around my finger and pinned in flat to the head as if it is falling towards the face but keeping a snug skull shape. For Sinead(with dark hair) I created a finger wave effect by pinching the hair between my fingers and securing with a Kirby grip and lots of spray and folded the ends to give the illusion that her long layered hair is a short bob.

Shot on Location :http://http://http://www.cartonhouse.com

Brilliant night!

Wonderful fashion show with 8 beautiful models ,8 trends shown so you can image the how hectic it was backstage!!

The trends 40’s lady like glamour to 80’s colour blocking to winter coats to the delicate evening gowns.

So the hair had to be uniformed for all the models and the trends.

I created a french pleat at the back to incorporate the 40’s with a high cob web height  to make it more contemporary with a sleek front to tie in the 80’s.
